The first Singapore Hobbies Expo is here to present a brand new experience for all hobbyists! In conjunction with the 3rd Singapore international Fish Show, the event hall will be filled with more than 1,000 top breed fish, consisting of koi, arowana, luohan, betta, guppy, discus and marine fish in various display and competitions. The 400 koi fish participating in the 18th Singapore Koi Show and Championship alone will be worth more than S$2m!
As part of the event, bird lovers will get to see more than 500 exquisite birds including the jambul, mata puteh and sharma, who will be vying for top spots in the Bird Singing Championship on 27 April at 9am. Parrot lovers are welcomed to bring their birds to the fair to join a new trend initiated by parrot enthusiasts from Parrots Network. These experts will show you how a parrot can be trained to listen and respond to you so that you can bring them out for strolls without worrying about them flying away.
There’s also a vast variety of collector’s items at the Collectors Exhibition where treasure hunters will find pu’er tea as old as 100 years old, antique yixing zisha teapots, century old silverware from Europe, rare vinyl records in English, Chinese and Malay as well as collector’s Barbie dolls worth a fortune!
In the art deco section, visitors can get to see extremely lifelike paintings of koi fish by renowned artists such as R. Sumantri MS from Indonesia. Specialist animal photographer Ernest Goh will also be launching his latest book on cocks and other fowls. The internationally renowned artist is conducting auditions for his next animal photography project. Those who are interested can bring your pets down to be photographed during the auditions.
Fans of local comics will get to interact with 15 top local comics artists at fan meet sessions at the Comics Festival and get to purchase out of print comics books and other memorabilia and also enjoy a cuppa at the Cosplay themed Thrones High Café.
For photography fanatics who have always wanted to capture 360-degree views or aerial views, Singapore Hobbies Expo will be an eye opener as the show features RC quadcopters which are designed to accomplish the task.
In the gardening section, visitors will get to see and even bring home organic vegetable walls of spinach, lady’s finger, lettuce and cabbage; at the same time, find out more about organic fertilizer and enzymes.
