Some interesting Japanese food items to check out at the show:
Tochigi prefecture’ s original variety “Nikkori” is harvested in mid-October. This is a new variety produced by crossing full-figured Niitaka and flavorful Hosui. A large pear can weigh over 1kg. Nikkori has the perfect taste and aroma, and its popularity is growing. Harvesting continues until November, and if well stored in a cool dark place, Nikkori will remain delicious and can be enjoyed until the following spring in Japan (early February).

Okome no gaufrette
Baked with Gifu Hatsushimo rice instead of wheat flour, this gaufrette rice cracker exudes a rich and sweet taste with the vanilla cream inside.
The light and crispy texture, combined with the sweetness of Hatsushimo with cream goes well with coffee or tea, making it more delicious than when it is eaten alone.
The no flour gaufrette with rice by WAKABAYASHI SENBEI is the first to be sold in the Japanese market and WAKABAYASHI SENBEI will be showcasing them at Oishii Japan 2015. Mark your calendars now.
Sake may have been the hottest Japanese drink in Singapore this year, but its cousin, shochu, is fast gaining ground.
Traditionally viewed as cheap and old-fashioned, the image of the distilled spirit in Japan and worldwide is changing, as it is viewed as an alternative to beer and whisky. Shochu, produced mainly in Kyushu and Okinawa, is traditionally made with ingredients such as rice, barley, sweet potato or brown sugar.
