Common questions asked of our knobs:
1) Would the black plastic knob melt?
Le Creuset traditional phenolic knobs are made from a versatile polymer which has high temperature stability. Thus, it is able to withstand oven temperatures of up to 190'C. If overheated, the phenolic knob will not melt but will crack and chip.
2) Does the black phenolic knob heat up?
This versatile knob stays cook to the touch even with prolong stovetop cooking. A great plus point when braising or cooking soups.
3) When do I use the stainless steel knob?
When cooking at high oven temperatures (above 190'C), use a cast iron casserole with a stainless steel knob. As this knob is oven safe and able to take any oven temperature. But remember to keep a safe distance between the oven top heating element and the casserole lid/ knob, and use a silicone hotpad or padded cloth to open the lid as the stainless steel knob heats up.
4) Can I just buy a phenolic or stainless steel knob?
Yes, our knobs are available for sale individually as an optional accessory. These can be purchased at any of our retail counters island-wide (www.lecreuset.com.sg/shop/).
5) Can I change/ replace the knobs on my own?
Yes, you can. Our knobs are designed so you can easily replace or interchange them as required with a simple twist of the screw. Simply press a finger tightly onto the screw found at the base of the lid and use your other hand to give the knob a twist. After which you can simply replace or change to the desired knob.
