The calorie myth
Counting calories to help lose weight and stay healthy is a myth. It’s not the calories that matter – it’s macronutrients.
A small serving of fries and 150g of salmon both provide 317kcals. But the calories in fries are largely from carbohydrates or “empty” calories. Worse, the fat it contains is trans fat – processed fat that contributes to heart disease.
The salmon on the other hand, gives you “functional” calories in the form of protein and good fat in the form of omega-3.
