Research has shown that when exposed to cold temperature, heat production processes in the body will add on to your typical basal metabolic rate, increasing your overall metabolic rate.

In one study, 12 young men were tasked to sit in a 17°C room for 2 hours daily over 6 weeks. Over the 6-week period, it was reported that the men averagely burned 289 extra calories in the cold. It might be that exposure to lower temperatures increased the activity of a gene that promoted burning of calories.

Looks like it ain’t a bad idea to remove your cardigan in your cold office!

Diabetes is a rising concern in Singapore and one way to keep the illness at bay is to incorporate a variety of high-fibre vegetables into your diet as they not only control your weight but also keeps your blood sugar level low.
