Smita is a breast cancer survivor and volunteer of BCF. She found out about her condition following a regular mammogram screening in 2015.
Thankfully, women who are diagnosed in the early stages e.g. stage 1 of breast cancer, have a 91% chance of surviving beyond 5 years as compared to those discovered at the later stages. Thus, three months after Smita had her operations, she was able to go on a vacation!
Early detection saves lives and breasts, and Smita is a great example of this!
