This Day In History

27 October, 1977 - The letter from Mr Hochstadt, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education, to John Harniman, British Council Representative, which gave the British Council Singapore the green light to go ahead with the Direct Teaching of English (DTE) in Singapore.

DTE is now called the Teaching Centre and offers a range of English courses for adults and young learners from nursery to primary and secondary, as well as teacher and corporate training, and a pre-school.

As 2017 marks our 70th anniversary in Singapore, we would like to share with you some of our significant achievements through the years. So watch this space and take this journey through time with us.
