Lunar New Year is not just a significant festivity in the Chinese calendar, but also an important occasion where family members get together to celebrate and bond over reunion dinner.
Celebrated on an annual basis, one of the key traditions that has been passed through generations is the giving of ang baos, also known as red packets, from married couples to those who are single, regardless of age or status. A symbolism of happiness and good luck, ang paos play a vital role in the Chinese culture.
This Lunar New Year, Bynd Artisan will be giving away a complimentary packet of ang bao, specially handwritten by Joanne from The Letter J Supply, with a minimum spend of $100 in a single receipt. Valid from now till 15 February 2018, this promotion is available at our respective ateliers at Holland Village, Raffles City and Takashimaya SC. *Promotion is limited to one redemption per customer, while stocks last.

Over the past three years, Bynd Artisan has taken part in various initiatives, each celebrating and supporting the growing presence of up-and-coming local brands and young budding artists. As a strong proponent of the local arts scene, Bynd Artisan is pleased to present a collaboration with @artoutreachsingapore to co-create an exclusive collection of bag charms that were specially designed by winners of the inaugural IMPART Awards - emerging artists, Justin Lim and Khairullah Rahim and curator Kamiliah Bahdar.
Featured here is Justin’s exquisite sketch of an orchid bloom. Devoid of colours, Justin’s hauntingly beautiful and delicate strokes capture the melancholy and barrenness of life – its impermanence and fragility refected in shades of monochromatic hues, reminding us that longevity is relative; to treasure every feeting moment in life as they are embedded into our memories, becoming a part of our past and moulding our future.
In consonance with Singapore Art Week, these bag charms will be launched for sale at $50 each, during the Impart Collectors’ Show held from 18 January to 28 January, at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre Gallery. 100% of the proceeds from sales of the bag charms at the show will go towards funding Art Outreach’s many educational programs aimed at promoting visual literacy, and supporting the IMPART Awards that seeks to cultivate and nurture emerging Singaporean talent in visual arts. Stay tuned to find out more!

Repost from The Business Times:
In October 2014, Bynd Artisan couldn't get a single mall to offer it retail space. So its first atelier was located at the Chan family’s factory in Boon Lay. Today, plans to take the brand to China and the Middle East are underway, even as its presence in Singapore continues to grow, with two retail stores slated to open in Ngee Ann City and Raffles City by next month. To celebrate Bynd Artisan's latest store opening at Takashimaya S.C. , Marquage Artist Cherin Sim has specially painted six limited edition vintage pieces, each unique in its own way.
Drawing inspiration from a historic nose art that is symbolic and vital in communicating psychological warfare back in World War II, Cherin utilises imported Angelus leather paint to embellish the iconic Flying Tigers Shark-Face military insignia onto three Compact Wallets and three Long Wallets in Gold, Silver and Red, each collection featuring one piece per colour.
With each piece being uniquely different, she ingeniously transforms these wallets into statement pieces through a bold choice of colours that stand out against the stark hue of black, further accentuating every piece’s individuality.
Head down to Bynd Artisan at Takashimaya S.C. , B1-02A to browse this collection today! (more…)

Symbolising admiration, red carnations are traditionally gifted to mums on Mother's Day as a thankful gesture for having painstakingly brought us up over the years.
This Mother's Day, our Assistant Store Manager, Grace, will be demonstrating paper flower making on two upcoming Saturdays, 6th & 13th May, from 12pm – 2pm at our Atelier. Do drop by if you would like to learn how to handcraft these beautiful carnations to gift your mum on that special day. As someone who loves flowers, Grace enjoys crafting flowers for old folks homes in her free time.
" The beauty of craftsmanship lies in its imperfections, not one piece is the same as another. Every carnation folded differ in size and texture and that's what I love about handicraft! " - Grace
We hope to see you there! (more…)
