Chances are that everything seems a bit bewildering, and you and your child may experience some moments of anxiety tinged with excitement!
At Learning Point, we believe that our students should develop depth of character and breadth of skills. If you would like to know more about our programs and how they can benefit your child, do feel free to drop us a line at http://bit.ly/ContactLearningPoint and we will get back to you right away!
In the meantime, dads! We have a big role to play! Check this out!
Let’s make ice-cream in a bag!
Yes, you heard me, homemade ice-cream in a BAG. Baking and cooking with our little tots may lead to a mess in the kitchen, but this fun, mess free and yummy recipe is an enjoyable treat for both you and your child.
But how is making ice-cream in a bag possible? And what is the science behind it?
Our Science Explorers programme uses contextual-based learning methods like the above to help students connect what they learn in their textbooks to what is happening in the real world. Hands on activities: Play family board or card games during free time in hotels
Listen to your child: Plan out activities and trips that they will enjoy, ask them what they want to do during the trip to show that their opinions matter
Learning foreign currency: Educate your child on foreign currency and conversion. Allow them to make an attempt calculating conversion rates
Make a game out of an activity: Who can find the destination the fastest or who can spot the landmark? Actively involve them in the itinerary and schedule (more…)
Alice and Michael are racing to finish making their ice cream for the annual ice-cream making competition. They both finished their ice cream mixes at the same time - whose ice cream do you think will freeze first ?
Did you guess it right? The fact is that the hot ice-cream mix will freeze faster than the cold ice-cream mix, assuming that both Alice and Michael used the same recipe for their ice cream mix.
In the early 1960s, a Tanzanian cookery student discovered that a hot ice cream mix freezes faster than a cold ice cream mix. This effect has been called the “Mpemba effect”, and until today, scientists have not been able to come up with a convincing explanation of why hot liquids freeze faster than cold liquids.
