Eating for detox need not be expensive. As long as you’re willing to get down to your hands, you can keep the cost of your detox down. We managed to get ours under $5 for each person. Don’t believe? Try our recipe then!

Beet Kale Brown Rice Salad (Serves 4)
Ingredients
2 cups of cooked brown rice
300 g of beets (peeled & julienned)
125 g of fresh kale

Ingredients
2 cups of cooked brown rice
300 g of beets (peeled & julienned)

Dressing
½ cup of plain yoghurt
½ teaspoon of salt
½ teaspoon of pepper

Topping
½ cup of grated peanuts

Directions
-Mix yoghurt, salt and, pepper in a small bowl. Stir till well combined. Set aside.
-Combine the “Ingredients” in a big bowl, drizzle dressing over and mix well.
- Keep chilled until serving time
-Top with grated peanuts before serving

Beet contains a unique source of betalains, which has been shown to aid in the repairing and regenerating of liver cells (the body’s primary detox centre). We understand that you know that the lymphatic system is a key detoxification pathway. But who on earth have the time to learn about lymphatic drainage massage or even possess the technique to DIY it, right? That’s why here are some tricks to help you unclog your system and get back on track!

1) Drink Up
The lymphatic system is primarily composed of water (95%) and must be hydrated to function at its optimal. Only water can sufficiently rehydrate the body, but you can expedite the process by tossing lemon to your water, which helps to mineralise the body and lymph.

2) Keep Moving
Though any form of exercise and movement is good for keeping lymph fluid flowing but rebounding (using a mini trampoline) seems to be particularly beneficial. An increase in lymph fluid circulation occurs when lymphatic valves are opened during a change in gravitational pull. This change happens when you land on the trampoline. Upon leaving the surface, the lymphatic valves are opened. The increased gravitational force that occurs during landing causes a surge of lymphatic drainage, which improves circulation. 1) Incorporate more plant-based foods in your child’s diet.
If getting your children to eat vegetables and fruits is a huge problem, why not try juicing? Juicing provides easily-digested vitamins and minerals, and you can put specific fruits and vegetables in your juice to target specific detox mechanisms for your children.
Include:
• Beets – To detox the liver and to cleanse the blood

Hang on, if you intend to toss your leftover CNY oranges in the bin, or let it rot pathetically on the desk. Follow the commandments (we mean the recipes) and add a new lease of life to the fruit, for thou shalt not waste!

The Morning Fuel: Citrus Bruschetta (Serves 5)
¼ baguette
½ orange (peeled, pitted and diced)
½ tablespoons olive oil
½ tomato (sliced)
A pinch of fresh basil
½ tablespoons minced red onion
½ teaspoons finely minced garlic
2 tablespoons of chopped pitted Olives
Pinch of red pepper flakes and sea salt
1 tablespoon of olive oil (for drizzling)

Preheat the oven to 400 F. Cut baguette into 5 pieces, and lay them on a baking sheet. Lightly drizzle bread with oil, and bake for 7 minutes. Set aside to cool. Toss the remaining ingredients in a bowl and mix well (to get a mixture). To assemble the crostini, smear each piece with a teaspoon of low-fat goat cheese, and top with the mixture.

The Afternoon Snack: Watermelon, Orange & Feta Salad (Serves 4)

-2 cups of watermelon (cut in cubes)
-1 orange, peel and pith removed, flesh cut into segments
-1/4 small red onion, thinly sliced
-2 ounces cottage cheese, thinly sliced
-1/4 cup fresh parsley leaves (omit if you dislike it)
-4 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil
-1 tablespoon of sunflower seeds

Arrange the watermelon, orange, red onion, feta cheese, and parsley on a platter. Drizzle with olive oil, and season with salt & pepper. Sprinkle with sunflower seeds and serve.

The Night Time Dessert: Orange & Banana Popsicle (Serves 12)
- 3 ripe bananas
- 1 cup orange juice (250 ml)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Blend all ingredients in a food processor or blender till smooth. Pour the mixture into molds and freeze overnight.

Don’t have the willpower to follow through a Post CNY detox diet, or simply too lazy to whip up your own cleansing meals? Good news for you, turns out, you can be a cleaner version of yourself, without sweating yourself or struggling in the kitchen.

- Get Down with the Wide Legged Twist
Stand with knees shoulder-width apart, and bend down. Reach your right hand to your left ankle. Extend your left arm up towards the ceiling, lean back slightly, and look up towards your left hand. Hang in the position for 20 seconds, before repeating on the other side.

- Pile Up the Fibre
Eating more fibre, will put the toxins where they belong, yes we’re referring to the toilet bowl. It does so by grabbing hold of the toxins, and pulling them out through elimination.
