5 facts about Yellowfin Tuna that you may not have known:
1. Yellowfin Tuna is one of the largest species of tuna.
2. Ancient Greeks considered this elusive fish a great delicacy and admired it for its large size as well as its fierce fight when caught.
3. It is deep red in color with a sweet, mild flavor and a dense, firm, beef-like texture.
4. A versatile fish which is consumed raw, cooked, smoked and canned. Widely used in raw fish dishes and is a prized species for the sashimi market.
5. Yellowfin Tuna is a lean fish that’s highly nutritious. A 4-ounce serving of raw yellowfin tuna has 130 calories, 2 grams of fat, 26 grams of protein, and 3 grams of omega-3 fatty acids.
