Pros & Cons of Gas Cookers and Electric Cookers
As you begin your journey in choosing between electric and gas cookers, do you face a dilemma of which is a better option? There isn’t a direct answer as a myriad of factors should be considered. Let us dive in to understand some of the comparisons.
The Pros:
Gas cookers offer an instant and easy way to control the heat and allow the heat flow to spread evenly across the base of your kitchenware. This means less time spent on stirring and preparing a properly cooked dinner. Depending on the market cost, gas tends to be cheaper than electricity and the extra saving might give you more mileage in dishing out a sumptuous meal.
On the other hand, with electric cooker, it might be an easier experience to clean given that the surface of the hob is flat. As such, you can have more time with your loved ones after a nice meal. Electric cookers are likely to get heated up easily thus allowing the contents of a pan to be easily cooked. Likewise, you can control the temperature more accurately.
Furthermore, with a growing lifestyle change, electric cookers can have a multifunction oven. This is an ideal option for a family who loves using the grill and fan simultaneously. Imagine using a smaller flame heat to grill a thicker piece of meat.
Building on this, electric oven provides a more even temperature environment with a better heat circulation flow. This means it is easier to achieve a consistent result, especially if you have many guests and requires multiple baking sessions. At Sim Siang Choon, our diverse range of electric cookers options can meet your dynamic lifestyle needs. There’s always more than one option to fit your living aspiration.
The Cons:
Using a gas cooker tend to require more time in cooking. Gas cookers are generally slower than electric cookers since it takes a longer time to heat up a large pan of food. You might find yourself working in your kitchen for a longer period before the delicious delicacy is served.
In addition, with gas cookers the cleaning can be tough. As dirt and food can get stuck in the cookers and require more effort to have a thorough cleaning process. You will also need to get certified installers to install a gas cooker as it requires some technical expertise.
One of the common pitfalls of the electric cooker is that the inductor tends to heat longer than the gas cooker. Hence, after the power is switched off, you might continue to experience the cooking process of a longer moment.
Building on these tips, you can have an objective guideline to choose a right cooker for your home! (more…)

5 Kitchen Cleaning Hacks for Every Home!

A stereotypical thinking is that the amount of time spent in whipping up delicious meals requires the same amount of time to clean your kitchen. The dread of having to scrub for hours deters many homeowners from cooking at home.

Below are some time-saving tips for a sparkling clean kitchen with little effort, to begin with.

#1 Use ammonia to clean your oven

The thought of having to scrub the inside of an oven can depress your mood for the day. This time-consuming task can be a nightmare for many homeowners with a hectic lifestyle. Consider placing a bowl containing about half a cup of ammonia on the top rack of the oven coupled with a large pan of boiling water on the bottom rack. Leave them overnight.

You can remove the dish and pan the next morning and allow the air from the oven to travel out of the interior. Start wiping the interior with a damp cloth that is soaked in water containing some dishwashing liquid. You might be amazed at the ease of cleaning off the baked-on gunk.

#2 Sea salt can be your best friend

Imagine the stubborn stains left on your cast iron pans that simply do not clean off easily. Many of us tend to scrub and scour with a sponge and dishwashing soap. However, this requires a great amount of time and the soap can ruin the pan, making it likely to rust.

A more effective method to keep the cast iron pans clean is to use some coarse sea salt and a halved potato to remove the stains. You should rinse with water and let the pan dry. Then season the pan with a little oil and you shall see the wonder of the stains coming off.

#3 A little extra mile go a long way

After cleaning our pots, pans and cutlery, we tend to leave the accumulated grunge sitting in the sink. At Sim Siang Choon, our wide range of sinks can cater to your diverse lifestyle needs. The quality of our sinks looks new if you take a subsequent step to remove these grunts with a light scrub instead of leaving them unattended.

#4 The amazing capability of baking soda

The build-up of years of grease that cover your cabinets can be instantly transformed by a simple formula. Simply make a paste by using 1 dose of vegetable oil with 2 doses of baking soda and scrub it on your cabinets. The greasy gunk should be easily wiped off.

#5 Stubborn burnt food?

This is a common problem faced by many of us. You can easily clean them with dryer sheets. All you need is to fill the dirty pots and pans with soap water that is tossed in a dryer sheet. Let it rest for 1 hour and the caked-on grime can come off with minimal scrubbing.

With these tips, your next cooking experience is no longer a roller coaster ride! (more…)

Did you know that bathtub designs have evolved through the eras? Early bathtub design had clawfoot tub made of cast iron and covered with enamel in the 19th century. It was transformed into the built-in bathtub and whirlpool tub in the 20th century, and to the current modern bathtub with advanced technology. However, recently the trend has gone back to the luxury clawfoot bathtub and pure white freestanding style bathtubs like acrylic and stone bathtub.
